This 1895 Victorian style house has plaster walls and old knob and tub wiring. We removed a pull chain light from this hall bathroom and upgraded the wiring and electrical boxes. We next installed a new vanity light, switch and GFI outlet.

After purchasing this home in Barrington, Illinois the first area to be re-decorated was the kitchen. First the wall paper was removed and re-painted. Then the home owner selected this mosaic ceramic tile from The Tile Shop  http://www.tileshop.com/walltile/backsplash.aspx and we installed it as a kitchen back-splash, along with changing each outlet and switch from black to almond to better match their tile.

   I work closely with several countertop companies. CCR Granite countertops from Elgin, Il.  fabricated these Swanstone solid surface bathroom vanities. We helped this private school in Huntley, Il.  by  building wooded supports for their bathroom vanities. Swanstone is known for its strength, heat resistance and ability to resist scratches and stains,  which makes it ideal for the brutal punishment it will take from a group of students. http://www.ccrtops.com/

AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) and GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter)

GFCI outlets are typically in kitchens, bathrooms and on the exterior of homes. These are designed to detect ground faults or prevent personal injury due to electric shock, when a person unintentionally becomes the current path to the ground such as areas that have sinks, showers, tubs or wet grass. GFCI constantly monitoring the current flow between hot and neutral (grounding) conductors, and activate when they sense a difference of 5 milliamps or more.

AFCIs prevent personal injury from structural fires. AFCI breakers generally control oulets in bedrooms. They are designed to detect small arcs of electricity before they have a chance to lead to a structure fire.

We removed a utility sink and roughed in a new washing machine outlet box in this Elgin,Il. home.

The settlement of Dundee started in 1835 and is one of the most historically unique towns in northern Illinois, and our customer’s home was just as impressive. However, the hall bathroom was in need of a major makeover, that’s where are homeowner started. After removing the 100 year old plaster and lathe, they added travertine stone tiles in their custom shower and bath floor, a new vanity, granite top, mirror and ended with wall sconces and crown molding.

This customer in Elgin, Il. needed a new sump pump for their basement bathroom. They wanted a pump that is worry free and would offer years of durability the very best solution is to use a Zoeller M264 sump with a cast iron body, stainless steel screws and comes standard with a non-clogging vortex impeller design.

I work closely with other businesses and home owners to do just a portion of projects, such as this bathroom in Mundelein, Il. I was contracted by the tile company Briddick Tile & Stone http://www.briddicktileandstone.com/  to do the rough in plumbing of this custom shower.

We installed six new 6' recessed can lights in basement that was previously finished and separated each row of can lighting and switched them with three separate 600 watt dimmers.

ArchitecturalDepot.com has very unusual mouldings, medallions, corbels etc.  Our customer needed a 7" crown moulding for their 2 story foyer and living room.   

The customer’s old laundry room was directly below a large closet on the second floor, making it a perfect fit for their new washer and dryer. The hard part was getting all of the mechanicals up into the new laundry room. Once I explored the area thoroughly and removed a few pieces of drywall,  I soon discovered that all of the mechanical's  ( PVC Drain / Venting, Gas, Water, Exhaust and Electrical)  would fit into our new opening. 

We had to remove an old, existing range hood and replaced it with this new 31" Bosch hood.  We first needed to cut the granite to fit into the new opening and then adjusted the gas line, electric and 6" venting duct work. 

Last weeks project was a small basement remodel that needed a suspended drop ceiling. Armstrong has a drop down edge they refer to as a "tegular" edge ceiling panel, this edge is much more attractive especially in a 2' x 2' tile.

Oak Hardwood flooring is the value-added way to bring beauty and warmth to your home, in other words, it’s a great investment, and one you’ll see in return. This home had hardwood in the kitchen and foyer, but wished to extend the oak into the family room and and a formal dinning room. We blended the new oak flooring into the old, sanded, stained and placed a tough and durable finish over the entire surface.

These rooms never had electric in the ceiling, so we mounted a expandable box to mount the fan box and ran the electrical to a new  fan dimmer. 

Jeff needed both bathrooms remodeled in his home. We started with the smaller bath by removing the vanity, toilet and all the old tile. We replaced the tile with black slate a and re-installed vanity and toilet, after painting the room.

Replace window and re-place ceramic tile in tub surround. We started by removing the old tile, drywall and replacing the insulation and installing Durarock. This acts as a water shield and prevents mold. We Then float the area in preparation for painting and cultured marble surround.

Water line repair, insulate pipes, exterior wall and repair dry wall.

We worked on Installing some trim work, stain and varnish all windows and doors. Install under cabinet lighting and repaired electrical blinds that were installed correctly but when the contractor replaced the wall trim, he shot a nail through his electrical cord that controls the remote for the blinds. 

Install roof mounted attic fan by Master Flow 1600cfm with humidistat  Install new Nutone bath exhaust fan and vent to exterior.
